The Research Project is to research a Federal tax law change currently before Congress, and to write a letter to an appropriate legislator concerning this proposal.
The Library of Congress website is one source you may use to find bills currently before Congress.
Another Source is the "Bills Worth Watching" Section under "Tax Legislation" in "Federal Tax" in the CCH Internet Tax Research NetWork

This project will be scored according to he following rubric:

• 5 pts -- the letter should be in the form of a letter appropriate for its intended recipient
• 5 pts -- the letter should be addressed to an appropriate legislator (with an address appropriately given)
• 5.pts -- the letter should identify the writer of the letter appropriately
• 10 pts -- the letter should identify (using a bill number or other clear identification) a Federal tax law change currently before Congress,
• 5 pts -- the letter should clearly express an opinion concerning the proposed law
• 10 pts -- the letter should give clear reasoning for this opinion
• 5 pts -- the letter should request appropriate action from the legislator
• 5 pts -- the letter should be of an appropriate length
