Mr.
Ed Fun Facts
Did you know...a zebra was briefly used in several
scenes in the series when Ed was unable to do some difficult stunts,
but there's no truth to the myth that a zebra was used the whole time.
Ed was definitely a horse!
Did you know...among
some of the wackier things Mister Ed did in his TV series were using
the telephone, riding a surf board, flying an airplane, giving a
birthday party with all his horse chums, driving a delivery truck,
wearing a Beatle wig and even meeting baseball player Leo Durocher.
Did
you know...Mr. Ed's favorite sport was surfing?
Here's proof!
Did you know... Mr. Ed
won some Patsy Awards. (Oscars for animals) In 1962 & 1963 Mr. Ed
won 1st
place for the "Mister Ed" series. Mr. Ed
was awarded 2nd
place in 1964, then 3rd
place winner in 1965. The catogories include all types of animals not
just horses.
Did you know...
Before a scene, Mr. Ed's trainer merely fed him a wad of a
mysterious substance akin to peanut butter, which sat between cheek and
gum. Though the wad of quasi peanut butter was harmless, Ed, being a
horse (of course), naturally wanted to get rid of it, which he did by
working his lips. When this was synched up with a voice-over by the
inimitable Allan "Rocky" Lane, Ed looked like he was talking.
Do you know... the words to
the Mr. Ed theme song??? Well here they are!
"Hello,
I'm Mister Ed"
A
horse is a horse of course of course,
And no one can talk to a horse of course.
That is of course unless the horse
Is the famous Mister Ed!
Go
right to the source and ask the horse.
He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse
He's always on a steady course.
Talk to Mister Ed!
People
yakkity-yak a streak
And waste your time of day,
but Mister Ed will never speak
Unless he has something to say!
A
horse is a horse of course of course,
And this one'll talk 'til his voice is hoarse.
You never heard of a talking horse?
Well, listen to this...
"
I am Mister Ed!"
