Using WS_FTP to Manage Your Pages
This is a step by step instruction page for using WS_FTP to manage your pages on the Arapaho server. Please note that WS_FTP is just the recommended software for managing your pages. Please feel free to use any FTP application.
Step 1If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the Server administrator.Download WS_FTP from our Software Archive, or from their official site.
Step 2
Double click (open) on the downloaded file, and follow all on screen instructions.
Step 3
Find the installed application (WS_FTP), and open it.
A window named "Session Profile" will appear. Click on "New" and fill in each field as follows.Step 4
- Profile name : Arapaho
- Host name : arapaho.nsuok.edu
- Host type : UNIX (standard)
- Username : *your username*
- Password : *your password*
- Leave all other fields blank.
- Click on "Save" to keep these settings.
Click on "OK" to begin your session.
Step 5
You should now be placed in your Directory on the Arapaho server. Your Arapaho directory is in the right window, and your local hard drive is in the left window. You should see an "index.html" file in your Arapaho directory. Index.html is your main (default) page. Arapaho looks for the index.html file when someone access your Home Page address (http://arapaho.nsuok.edu/~*username*)
Step 6
Locate the file(s) you want to upload on your local drive (left window). Select the desired file and click the "-->" arrow. This sends files to the Arapaho server.
Step 7
After transferring all your files, click on "Close" to end your session.
