NSU will present 19 Outstanding Senior Awards
NSU will present 19 graduating seniors with Jack Kaufman Outstanding Senior Awards at a special ceremony on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Ball Room C of the University Center on the Tahlequah campus.
Considered a visionary by those who knew him, the late Jack Kaufman will go down in NSU history as one the institution's most active and influential alumni. In recognition of his exceptional support of the university and its alumni association, the Jack Kaufman Outstanding Seniors Awards are given to deserving seniors each year who are nominated by NSU faculty and staff.
Recipients have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, have demonstrated their concern for Northeastern through campus involvement and are considered all-around students who typify the spirit of NSU.

NSU Names 2007-2008 Outstanding Freshmen

Ten students were recently named the 2007-2008 Outstanding Freshmen at NSU.
The Outstanding Freshman Award honors first-year students that made exceptional contributions to the campus and community while maintaining high academic standards. Recipients must exemplify dedication to NSU and the community through involvement in on-campus organizations and activities, as well as community functions.  Recipients must also have a minimum grade point average of 3.25.
The Office of First Year Experience selected 10 students to receive the inaugural Outstanding Freshman Awards. A ceremony recognizing the winners is set for Saturday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. in Ballroom C of the University Center. The top male and female freshmen will be announced during the celebration.

Two students inducted to NSU Hall of Fame

NSU will induct Lauren Woods and Drushea Dear into the NSU Hall of Fame at a special ceremony on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Ballroom C of the University Center.
Each year in the spring the NSUinducts students, athletic teams or student organizations into the NSU Hall of Fame. Inductees are selected based upon outstanding achievements resulting in state or national recognition or for outstanding, unique contributions to the Northeastern State University life.
Lauren, a chemistry major from Claremore, is the daughter of Rusty and Kim Woods and Karen Owens. She is involved with the Honor's Program, Delta Zeta sorority, Baptist Collegiate Ministries and the Northeastern Student Government Association. Lauren is also a member of the Rho Theta Sigma Honor Society, Alpha Chi Honor Society, was named Greek Woman of the Year and Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities
Drushea, a political science major from Bokoshe, is the daughter of David and Terri Dear. She is involved with the President's Leadership Class, served as president for the Northeastern Student Government Association, state president of the Oklahoma Student Government Association and the NSU RiverHawk Flock. Dru received the Alpha Sigma Alpha Four Aims Intellectual Award, was named one of the Top Five Greek Women and was the 2006 NSU Homecoming Queen.
