Fine Arts renovation project under way

Construction started on the Fine Arts building and will not stop until completion, which is estimated nine months from now.

The Fine Arts building houses the Center for the Performing Arts and has not been renovated since 1994, according to the NSU Web site.


Smarts&Arts to benefit Autism Center of Tulsa

The Autism Center of Tulsa is holding a Smarts&Arts fundraiser Nov. 19 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and consists of a trivia night, silent auction and art show. Individual admission tickets are $35 and table sponsorships are available at $350, $500 and $750. There will be light refreshments and bidding opportunities for people who attend. All proceeds will go to and benefit ACT.


Bunch wins Miss Black NSU

As eager participants rushed in to the UC’s 2nd story ballroom last Wednesday, Nov. 11, the contestants for the 3rd annual Miss Black NSU continued their preparation for the highly anticipated pageant. The seats were set, the tickets were sold and the volunteers were ready for an event that some would say they are more than eager for.


Veteran Affairs offers education benefits

NSU Veteran Services are available to help any veteran with education benefits. The office is located on the second floor of the Case building. The Veteran Affairs coordinator is Paula Page. This is her fifth year.

“I took over the office in March 2005,” said Paula Page. “I had no idea what I was getting into, but it has been a very rewarding experience. The best part about it is helping the veterans and their families get benefits for college.”


AIBL meeting today, 3 p.m.

American Indian Business Leaders is the 7th American Indian organization at NSU.

The purpose of the organization is to get American Indian students that are business and technology majors to come together and inform them about future business opportunities. Stuart Ashworth, finance major, is the individual responsible for creating the organization.

“I strongly believe in providing awareness to students so I formed this organization for American Indian business students,” said Ashworth.
