SLP’s Undergraduate Admission Requirements

· Must have maintained at least a four year high school GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 grading scale, and be ranked among the upper 50% of applicant’s graduating class

                                                                 Or

· Have a 2.7 GPA in the 15 high school classes required for college entrance

                                                                 Or

· Have received a composite score of at least 20 on the ACT or a similar acceptable test

*Students must make a grade of “C” or better in the following college courses in order to be admitted into the program:

             - ENGL 1113/1213 (English Composition I and II)

             - SPCH 1113 (Fundamentals of Oral Communication)

             - PSYC 1113 (Introduction to Psychology)

             - MATH 1473 or 1513 (Quantitative Analysis)

             - a physical science course

             - a biological science course

             - a statistics course

ASHA Council for Academic Accreditation Standard III-A states, “The applicant must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of biological sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, and social/behavioral sciences.”

*Students must complete the following Speech-Language Pathology courses, making a grade of “B” or better, in order to continue in the Speech-Language Pathology undergraduate program:

             - SLP 3223 Clinical Phonetics

             - SLP 3313 Introduction to Communication Disorders

             - SLP 3363 Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism

             - SLP 3813 Language Development

             (SLP courses may be repeated only one time)

*Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
