In The Beginning there was Casey Zandbergen and John Fothergill.  Both were oustanding debaters at Jenks High School. During the 1991-92 school year they re-established competitive debate at NSU.
As freshman, in their second intercollegiate competition, they took first place in the Open CEDA Division at Sam Houston State University.  Casey cumulatively won nine competitive
debate awards during his three semester
tenure at NSU. John won 12
competitive debate awards in
his 2 years at NSU. Casey was
awarded the Valgene Littlefield
"Best Debater" award in 1992.
John received the award in
1993.
