IS 1003 or IS 1133 or equivalent

4. Course Description:

Website design and management are examined in detail. Major topics include:

HTML - basic tags, backgrounds, tables, frames, imagemaps, CSS, RSS, XML
Graphics - scanning, retouching, clipping, adding drop shadows, creating animated and transparent images
Forms - textboxes, radio buttons, and pull down menus
Programming - VBScript, JavaScript, ASP and PHP

Additional course materials will be provided as handouts, assigned URLs, or placed on the Web. Students might consider purchasing a USB flash drive (e.g., JumpDrive). These portable storage devices can be very helpful in storing, carrying, and transferring information between home and school. All students are expected to have their accounts on the NSU networks by the end of the first week of the semester.

6. Course Purpose:

To develop hands-on skills in designing and maintaining Web documents.
To teach students how to design and create professionally looking images.
To help students find and use online resources.

7. Expected Course Outcomes:

Students are expected to achieve the following objectives:

Acquire a working knowledge of Website design.
- Read, revise, and write HTML source code.
  - Tables
  - ImageMaps
  - Frames
- Design and create professionally looking images.
  - Understand layers
  - Create animated images
- Design and create HTML forms.
Communicate Website design solutions to users in a professional manner utilizing different methods of communication and media.
Strengthen their ability to comprehend and synthesize information; and improve their writing, oral, and critical thinking skills.
