Clery Act

Departments of Public Safety at colleges and universities are required by federal law to investigate, and make known to the public, crimes committed on or near their campuses.

We have provided crime statistics to the Oklahoma State Board of Investigations since the early 1970s. These statistics are published annually in Crime in Oklahoma by OSBI and Crime in the United States by the FBI. Both are available at the NSU John Vaughan Library reference desk.

Awareness of these facts provides the public knowledge of what activities these departments perform in crime detection as well as how well its prevention program is working.
