Description of Curriculum and Objectives
Political Science is a baccalaureate liberal arts program which offers undergraduate and limited graduate courses to create a critical awareness and understanding of the international, national, state, and local political process. The program is committed to assisting in the study of a resolution of political and administrative problems within the region and state. The courses offered are intended to facilitate and develop talented, ethical leaders possessing the skill to be successful in public service, private organizations, law, and teaching.
Career opportunities exist for political science graduates in business, law enforcement, journalism, teaching, interest groups and associations as well as at all levels of government service. Recent surveys of job possibilities for America in the next decade lists state and local government as the second largest projected growth area. The largest growth area, health care (particularly administration of health care programs), is in line to take on a distinctly more public perspective in the near future.
