CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
OSTCA invites faculty, graduate, and undergraduate submissions for research projects for the 2009 fall conference. We invite papers, posters, performances, panels, GIFT proposals, and oral presentations that reflect approaches to education in the study of speech, theatre, and communication including, but not limited to, issues of gender, ethnicity, society, sexuality, disability, nationality, and culture. This can be explored through a variety of lenses, including interpersonal, intercultural, language/social interaction, rhetoric, acting, oral interpretation, readersÕ theatre, journalism, forensics/debate, and mass media/broadcasting. We welcome quantitative, qualitative, theoretical, artistic, critical, and interdisciplinary projects.
Guidelines for submission:
á Each submission must be accompanied with an abstract and completed submission form (to be made available in a future newsletter). This includes title of work, authors, submission type, and an abstract/description of research.
á GIFT (Great Ideas for Teaching) submissions should (1) clearly identify the concept being covered by the activity and the course(s) for which it applies; (2) include a list of materials needed and instructions for conducting the activity including the amount of time needed; (3) offer a short explanation of possible learning insights experienced; (4) include references to any required or recommended readings. The submission should be no longer than two pages. A cover page including the authorÕs name, school affiliation, complete mailing address and email address is also required.
á Submit all papers and panel proposals as a MICROSOFT WORD attachment to OSTCA Vice President Dana Daniels Ayers at dana.daniels@okstate.edu. Please mark any technology needs on the submission. Deadline for submissions will be April 1, 2009.
á Top paper and panel awards will be given if at least 5 papers are received in the respective category.
á If your submission is accepted for presentation, you will be notified by Professor Ayers. You will need to join the association and register for the convention.
