Non-Traditional Student Organization
President

Deanie Hensley is a founding member of the Non-Traditional Student Organization. She attended a leadership conference this summer, held by NSU in Eureka Springs, Arkansas in order to provide a quality leadership to NoTSO. Her knowledge of scholarships was very beneficial when it came down to writing the actual scholarship proposal that was approved in the amount of $5000. Deanie planned a Krispy Kreme fundraiser to raise funds for NoTSO in August of 2004, which was a big success raising more than $200.00 for the organization. She has been a key player in coordinating and planning of events for NoTSO.
Deanie meets the description of a non-traditional student in every aspect of her life. She is a divorced mother of two girls and one boy. She originally became a student in the spring of 2003 when looking into information for her daughter to attend college. Since that time she has been active in volunteer work both in the community and on campus and has a goal of graduating from college in the same month and year that her youngest daughter graduates from high school.
Duties of the President
The President is responsible for representing the views and perspectives of the general NoTSO membership as related to NSU's administration, faculty, stafff, NSGA or any other official body at NSU and also to the Tahlequah community and to the general public.
The President is also responsible for keeping NoTSO members as a body focused on the goals that they have set for themselves in Regular Meetings. The President can and should make suggestions as to the best goals to set for the good of the organization as a whole, and as to how best to attain those goals. However, in the end it is the will of the majority of NoTSO members that determines what goals are set and how those goals shall be attained.
The President's responsibilities, in addition to the general responsibilities outlined above, include chairing all meetings, attending all NSGA meetings, serving as ex officio member of all committees with the exception of the election committee and any other duties or task that are necessary to keep this organization focused and productive.
Nominations for NoTSO President will be accepted in November and elections will be held in December. Make the effort to let your officers know how they are doing and what you would like to see done differently! Or, make the effort to let them know what a great job they're doing! E-mail is acceptable, but it's best to attend a meeting and make your voice heard in person.
