Non-Traditional Student Organization
Faculty and Staff Involvement
Thank you for considering affiliation with us!
NoTSO welcomes input and participation from all NSU faculty and staff!
If you are interested in working with NoTSO, please contact Albert Franco to discuss your personal situation and how you feel you would best fit into our organization.
We realize that your schedules are full and we realize the commitment and effort that is required for a staff or faculty member to actively participate in a student organization's activities. Many faculty and staff members share similar interests and challenges with non-traditional students. It is our goal to provide benefits to faculty and staff, where appropriate, as well as to non-traditional students.
General information for faculty and staff is summarized below.
Faculty and Staff Options
NSU faculty and staff may participate with NoTSO in one of three way:
- Associate Membership
- Campus Advisor
- Camp Sponsor
Associate Membership
Any individual who does not meet the requirements for Regular Membership may apply for membership as an Associate Member. This includes NSU faculty and staff. You will be able to participate in functions and activities, and you may attend meetings. You will not be able to vote on issues, but you may speak on issues. As an associate member, you will not be required to pay dues, although donations are accepted.
Campus Advisor
NoTSO hopes to work with one Campus Advisor for each Department at NSU. Campus Advisors will be more involved than Associate Members in the development of NoTSO, and the direction in which it is moving. We ask our advisors to fill out a membership form in order to operate more efficiently. We understand that any faculty or staff member who chooses to be an organization advisor is offering a service, and we appreciate your help. Campus Advisors will act as mentors and counselors as NoTSO members work towards our goals and learn in the process. Your experience and advice is critical to the success of NoTSO.
Campus Sponsor
Each semester, two Campus Advisors are selected to be Campus Sponsors. Campus Sponsors agree to dedicate considerable time and energy to NoTSO. Campus Sponsors must be readily available and on campus throughout the semester; they will sign checks and Student Activities forms and will be an integral part of daily and weekly NoTSO activities. Both Campus sponsors will sit on NoTSO's Executive Board. One of the two Campus Sponsors will be present at all E-Board Meetings and Regular Meetings. In the event that both Campus Sponsors cannot attend a meeting, one of the two must be available to meet with a NoTSO officer the day before or after that meeting to discuss the meeting's agenda.
Campus Sponsors are the faculty and staff members who will be most actively involved in guiding and mentoring NoTSO's officers as we move forward. Campus Sponsors give much time and effort to NoTSO, and they have the ability to strongly influence our development as an organization, as well as our impact on the campus and surrounding communities. They also have the opportunity to affect the personal development and growth of each NoTSO officer, and of each NoTSO member.
We realize that we cannot pay back this type of service directly, and we hope that each prospective Campus Sponsor or Campus Advisor feels our sincere respect and appreciation. This web page is meant in part to thank existing and future Campus Sponsors and Advisors for making this organization possible.
Thank you!
