October 24, 2005 NASSW-All School Meeting
Topics Discussed:
1) Campus Organization Recognition
2) Upcoming Fundraiser- Sucker Sale
3) T-shirt quote
4) NASSW website and e-mail address
5) Angel Tree Interviewing
1) NASSW is now officially recognized by the University, although our constitution needs a slight modification to include the disabled. Now that the organization is recognized there are certain rules and guidelines that must be adhered to, which includes the sucker/raffle ticket fundraiser (more detail in section 2). In the future student affairs must be given a two week notice of fundraisers in order to get approval. Although we did not give a two week notice for the sucker and raffle ticket sale, student affairs did work with us to allow it to happen on the scheduled date and accommodate us with tables set up in the university center.
2) Student affairs has denied our raffle ticket sale. No matter how it’s worded or phrased and the fact that Oklahoma has now approved the Lottery, we do not have permission to do the raffle ticket sale. We know that this has been done in the past semesters but we were not an officially recognized organization at that time either. The sucker sale will continue and hopefully successfully. There will be $120 profit when all of the suckers sale.
3) An NASSW member voiced that she found the t-shirt quote to be slightly offensive; the quote is "Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of being." James decided the best way to handle the matter was to allow members to send an e-mail voting for or against the quote (e-mail information in next section).
4) Minutes from the all school meetings are now posted (it may take a couple of days but as soon as possible after the meeting) on the NASSW website for all of those who are unable to attend the meetings on the scheduled date. We encourage all members to go to the website and view the minutes and send us an e-mail sharing any thoughts you may have on what went on at the meeting or any encouraging input. Our e-mail address is nasswnsu@yahoo.com
5) Regina Martin with Kids Connection is seeking volunteers to do interviews for families seeking the Angel Tree as a resource as well as interviewing organizations who want to give to the Angel Tree.
