COMPUTER FORMAT AND MANUSCRIPT FORM

Revised 1-26-08

Unless I tell you otherwise, do all out-of-class assignments on computer, using the following format:

  1. Double-space the entire document.  Do not use single-spacing or leave extra spaces in any part of the document.
  2. Use the standard font Times New Roman 12, in which this document is printed.
  3. Although default margins in Word are 1.25 inches, change your margins to one (1) inch on all four sides of the paper.
  4. Use only left justification.  Do not justify the right margin.
  5. In the upper left of the first page, use the standard MLA four-line heading (your first and last name, the instructor’s title and last name, the course prefix and number, and the due date).
  6. In the upper right of each page, beginning with page 1, insert as a header your last name followed by one space and the page number.
  7. Indent each paragraph one-half inch (about five [5] spaces) from the left margin.
