Course Syllabus for Math 2614 CalculusI

PREREQUISITES: MATH 1513 and MATH 1613, or equivalent

CATALOG DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: Functions, limits, derivatives, applications of the derivative, the definite integral, the fundamental theorem of calculus and applications of integration.

COURSE PURPOSE: This course has been designated as an approved liberal arts course. It develops the framework of differentiation and integration in "The Calculus." It will prepare the student for further study in calculus and enable the student to pursue careers which require calculus.

EXPECTED COURSE OUTCOMES: The student will be expected to achieve the following objectives:

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: (Required Textbook) Finney, Ross L. and George B. Thomas, Jr. Calculus (2nd edition). Reading, Massachusetts: Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, 1994.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES: The expected course outcomes will be realized through a variety of instructional strategies. Those strategies include, but are not limited to, the following: lecture, expository-discussion, demonstration, and group activities. The instructor will integrate appropriate multi-media technology.
