Four score and seven minutes ago, you
logged onto this computer. Your teacher has brought forth, upon this website, a
new webquest, conceived in her Technology in Education class, and dedicated to
the proposition that all students should pass the class.
Now you are engaged in a great assignment,
testing whether you, or any of your group so dedicated, can complete. We are met
on a great battlefield of that assignment. We come to dedicate our time to the
successful completion of this webquest so that your passing grades shall not
perish from the earth.
Tasks
Task 1:
Create a Presidential Record for your chosen president. Each record will
be a 5” by 7” card with your president’s FULL name and picture on the front and
the following information on the back—nickname, date of birth, date of death,
parent’s names, wife’s name, children’s names, home state, profession, years in
office (1992-2000), political party, the name of his vice-president, and which
president he was (41st). You will need to have14 elements on your
presidential record.
Task 2:
Create a Timeline for your chosen president. Each
timeline must include the dates of your president’s birth and death, when he
was elected, how long he was in office, and 5 other important dates in his
lifetime. You will need to have 10 dates on your timeline.
Task 3:
Create a Simulated Journal that contains at least 5 entries from
your president’s point of view. Each entry must have 5-10 sentences and
be at least half a page long.
Task 4:
As a group, complete a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting
your different presidents with at least 3 comparisons between each, 3
contrasts between each and 3 other facts for each.
Process
Each team member
chooses a DIFFERENT president
to research. Once that president is chosen, each team member completes each
task.
Task 1: Search for a picture for your Presidential
Record. Right click on the picture. Click “Save image as” and save the
image into your file. In your notes, collect all the necessary information to
complete the back of your Presidential Record.
Task 2: Searching the
Internet, you will collect information to create a Timeline.
Task 3: Using the information you’ve found on the
Internet, create a Simulated Journal with at least 5 entries from
your president’s perspective.
Task 4: Use the Venn Diagram
worksheet to compare and contrast your group’s presidents.
Once all 4 tasks
are completed, put all information in a folder so a grade can be assigned to
your group. The presentation of your material counts!

Evaluation
Before beginning
in your folder, check the Evaluation Rubric to make sure you
meet all of the necessary components.
Conclusion
Now that your group has completed the
American Presidents Webquest, you are more knowledgeable of your history. Would
you like to be president? Would you like the responsibility and honor of making
important decisions affecting millions of people? Do you think you could do a
better or worse job than the president you researched? Individually, write your
responses to these questions and turn in with your folder.
