My
mission is to graduate college and then become involved in a High School
or College Athletic Department as an assistant and work my way up the ladder.
The
Current Job Market
The current job market is not very good for college graduates, but with all of the schools to choose from, there are always opportunities to get on at a respected institution.
Job Demand
The demand for athletic department assistants
and athletic directors is high. With the number of schools in the country
on the High School and College there are plenty of opportunities to take
advantage.
Salary
Range
The salary range varies drastically, it depends on where you are at. At the High School and small colleges level, the starting salary is around $40,000 a year. If you are at a major university that jumps up to over $100,000 year. As assistants the starting pay is around $20,000 a year.
Opportunities
There are many schools looking for help
in their athletic departments. College sports has become so big in the
last 10 years, that is takes at least 50 employees at some major colleges
to tackle the work load.
Requirements
One will need a degree in one of several
fields. Either Marketing or a Communications degree in Public Relations.
The most sought after requirement is experience.
