There are many changes to expect this year in the Mass Communication program.
Classes have been changed and new courses have been added to the major. These changes were implemented in order to stay current with the evolving field.
One class has been separated into two different classes in order to dedicate more time to a specific topic. Broadcast Writing and Production is one of the classes that has been divided.
Broadcast Writing is now separate from Broadcast Production.
In the new Broadcast Writing class, instructor Mike Marlatt’s students have a chance to read radio news stories on Channel 99.
This gives students an opportunity to see the production and hear themselves on a real live newscast. Broadcast Production still focuses on video, however, with less emphasis on writing.
Students who have recently declared their major can count on being on the new degree plan.
Web Design has recently been added to the list of classes needed to complete a degree in Mass Communication.
This class will benefit students by teaching them how to design and update web pages.
These changes have already been implemented in the Mass Comm program for the Fall semester.
