Bell Music
Library The music library is a large and on-going service project for our chapter and we recently had a workday. Alumnus Sam McMillen built shelves and some of the brothers stained them during the workday, so most of the renovating is complete. The rest of the brothers began organizing an incredible amount of music. We purchased very nice music boxes and began transferring music from the old manila folders. We labeled the folders with the title, composer, and arranger and separated the folders based on whether or not they had the conductor’s score. After we finish this step, a computerized card catalog database will be created. This will allow our band director to access the desired music by searching the database. AEA,

Phelps Alumni
Banquet The Alpha Rho Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi will be hosting the First Alumni Banquet being held on November 15, 2004. The Banquet will take place in the Jazz Lab at Northeastern State University, catered by a local restaurant Vidalia’s. The chapter will be providing all the accessories like the dinnerware. We are expecting quite a few Alumni to attend this event, which is by donation only. We will be having our new members as the servers for the drinks, the appetizers, and the main course. The banquet will get the Alumni together again, to meet the members, and to learn about what the chapter has been doing throughout the year. Hopefully the banquet will be a yearly event and become a chapter tradition. AEA, |

Conaway Slave
Auction During our homecoming week this year we put on a slave (indentured servant) auction. At two of our band practices during the week we held an auction where we sold ourselves to the members of the NSU band. They were able to "own" us for one band practice, the homecoming parade, and the football game. Even our own membership candidiates got in on the fun and purchased some of the members. The most exspensive member went for $41.01 with the least exspensive going for about $8.00. Everybody had a lot of fun and we made some money to go with it. AEA, |

Snow Workday
Campout It’s fall rush again, and time for the Alpha Rho 4th annual workday campout. It was very different this year due to the fact we all planned for temperatures around the freezing point and saw, no lower that, mid-sixties. We returned this year to the wonderful Lake McMurtry. The locals aren’t to impressed by this lake but it seems to be perfect for our visits. Camping included all of our favorites, such as stories around the fire, smores, and learning more about each other than we ever wanted to know. In my opinion, this is among the best parts of initiation, due to the fact we can be together as a group for an entire evening without having to worry about what we are going to do after we are done or are we ready from class the next day. I’d like to thank the Alpha chapter for the wonderful tour they put together. If your chapter hasn’t seen it, you are defiantly missing out. One more year down and we are already looking forward to next year’s campout (there’s even plans for another KKPsi campout this semester so we can do it all over again rather soon). AEA, |

Blevins Lambda
Visit On the weekend of the ninth and tenth of October, about nine Alpha Rho members and alumni went to Arkansas for a campout. We arrived around five in the evening and set up camp. We had a blast sitting around the campfire telling stories and jokes and roasting marshmallows. Bed time came and it got really cold so we all cuddled or as Kelly accidentally called it scuttled. We definitely got to know each other much better that night. The next morning we went looking for the caves. The first one we went to was rather small and, we soon found out, full of bats!!!!! A couple of the girls decided that bats weren’t for them and soon left to wait in the rain instead. After the first cave we “hiked” around looking for some more, hopefully bigger ones. We finally found Devil’s Ice Box and as we started for the entrance I did something stupid and hopped down off a rock and sprained my ankle really bad! As usual I got hurt! Well the guys were gone for like 30 minutes and came from behind us and scared us! We were beginning to wonder if they were ok. Finally, it was time for spaghetti with the Lamda chapter. We arrived and began mingling. We had a lot of fun meeting their membership candidates and catching up with the members...and the spaghetti was great! We all sat down for dinner and then started introducing ourselves. All the Lamda guys were really nice and will hopefully be coming to visit us soon. All in all it was a very eventful trip and I’m sure those that went now have memories to last them a lifetime. AEA, |

Rudolph Weatherford
Road Trip On October 30th, 11 members and initiates made the four hour drive to Weatherford, OK. We took 3 cars, and had to stop 3 times, but we finally made it. When we arrived, we were able to watch SWOSU's half time show and then watched the rest of the football game (we lost of course). Afterwards the memebrs of Epsilon Epsilon and the 11 Alpha Rho people went to record the Fraternity Song & Hymn for their band director, Jay Schale, who is an alumnus of Alpha Rho. The memebrs of Epsilon Epsilon were willing to let us stay the night, but too many of us had plans for the next day. The four hour drive down there, only took three hours on the way back (we didn't stop or caravan on the way back). All in all, it was a good trip. AEA, |
