President’s Report

Welcome to the T.C.W.B.S.F.Y. ONLINE Fall 2001. I am Christian Collier Brodersen, the President of the Alpha Rho Chapter here at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. This is our third year to have the T.C.W.B.S.F.Y. ONLINE articles, and I think it is working out well. I have been a member for 3 years, this is my fourth, and our chapter has done a lot for our band since I’ve been here. You can read all about these services in the other online reports.
This year, we are a lot smaller than last year, mainly because of members graduating. Right now, we have 11 active members, three of which are life members. We’ve had to do a lot reconstructing and adjusting to do, but we’re doing great! We have 4 prospective members that look like they’ll be good members. We’ve been working on some service projects like building benches for the band practice field, creating and furnishing a music study lounge, normal cleaning of storages and maintainence things, and we are also hoping to get a copier for the music department. The copier might have to wait a while till we’re sure we have the money to keep up with it, but it is needed.
Kyle Spottedhorse from Gamma Theta (ECU) asked us for some assistance in providing instrumentation for their third degree, which of course we were willing to offer. It’ll be fun and educational going on a trip to help out a fellow chapter. I’ll close in saying we have our expectations and goals in reach, and with love of the Brotherhood and the dedication of our members, we’ll have a lot of fun providing the service that out band needs.
God Bless,
AEA,
Christian

Hello Again

I hadn’t expected to have to write one of these this year, but I was kind of thrust into office recently. I won’t take much time, as I have already written a number of articles for the newsletter, but I want to remind all of our alumni “Contact us, so we can contact you.”
I see good things for Alpha Rho again this year. We struggled a little at the beginning of the year as our membership was cut roughly in half. Things seemed to have worked themselves out and we are getting stronger. Also remember to keep checking the website for updated pictures and schedules of events.

AEA,
Aaron Moore

Melissa Bell
Alumni Secretary

Alumni Report

Hello! My name is Melissa Bell, more commonly known as Mel Bell, and I am the new Alumni Secretary. I am a Sophomore, and I play trumpet in the Marching Band and jazz Band 2. I was a member of the Fall 2000 initiate class, so I feel like I am still new to the Brotherhood. However, I did attend the 2001 SWD Convention and the 2001 National Convention, which was an amazing experience. I’m really excited about having the SWD Convention in Oklahoma City this year, and I am sure the Oklahoma chapters will all help to make it great.
Homecoming was my first chance to meet many alumni, and I’m glad that several came to the game. I was disappointed that there weren’t enough to have the Alumni band perform; however, the alumni did sit and play along with the NSU Band. I would also like to invite our alumni to join us on the fifty-yard line immediately following the football games to sing our Fraternity Hymn.
There are four membership candidates in the Fall 2001 initiate class, and I’m thrilled that Shannon is my little brother! The members and initiates went to National Headquarters in Stillwater on October 6th. We all worked various jobs and did our part to keep Headquarters looking good and running smoothly. We camped out the night before and had lots of fun and laughs, and also managed to enjoy the first frost of the season.
I am looking forward to a great year for Alpha Rho!! If you have any questions, comments, advice, or whatever, then don’t hesitate to email me at mel_bell@kkpsi.org or call me at (918) 456-5511 ext. 7404.

AEA,
Melissa Bell

Vice President's Report

Hello everyone my name is Aaron Smith and I am the new Vice President at Alpha Rho. We have had a great time this fall we started out the year by doing something every night of early band camp. We did all kinds of stuff from playing volleyball and bowling to going on a float trip on Saturday. We had a wonderful informal rush where we watched our new recruitment video from nationals. We started our rush with 6 candidates but we are now at 4. We have had a lot of fun with this fall rush class. We took everybody to Stillwater to camp outside and then we went to nationals the next day to work all day on the station. Some of us went to the gravesite of Boh and to the National Shrine. I look forward to having all 4 of our candidates become full-fledged members.

Historian's Report

Hi, I am Alpha Rho's Historian again this year. Last year however I was only put in right before district, so I should have it a little easier this year. It's been a blast taking pictures of this group. I love doing the scrapbook and look forward to looking through it at the end of the year. This year has been a lot of fun so far, and I am looking forward for the rest of the year. District is right around the corner and I can't wait to go back. I've had a lot of things to do lately that involves my family that's been great, though being married to the president of Alpha Rho doesn't make my job any easier. He is great though. I can't wait to get some free time to update the scrapbook a little more and get started on a few other things also. I am excited about getting into this and getting it done. It's going to be a great year.

AEA,
Jayme Lynn Brodersen
