Bio info:

     Dr. Hixon has been teaching in the Health & Kinesiology Department since the Fall of 1990, moving from Hays, KS where she completed both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Physical Education.  While in the Master’s Program, Dr. Hixon was a graduate assistant in both adapted physical education and exercise science.  She was also the Adapted Physical Education Coordinator for Larned Public Schools during this time.  Prior to returning to Fort Hays to complete her Master’s Degree, Kathy worked at Norton State Hospital , Norton , KS – a facility for individuals with disabilities.  Kathy completed her PHD in Kinesiology (focusing in Adapted Physical Education & Special Education) in 2002, from the University of Arkansas

     Kathy is the Past-President of OAHPERD, (serving as President from Fall of 2007 to Fall of 2008) and is on the State Relations Committee for Southern District AAHPERD.

She has numerous presentations and publications at the state, regional and national levels.
