AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR INFORMATION, LIBM 4023

On your scheduled day, you will hand to the instructor a copy of your written report. The following information should be included if you expect to receive full credit for the study.

1.Biographical information that will be of interest to students.

2.An (abbreviated?) list of their work and awards.

3.Appropriate classroom use suggestions.

4.Indicate why the work should be used at a specified developmental level.

5.Clearly state the genre or artistic media.

6.Include at least 3 quality annotations (summaries).

7.Summarize a critique of their work. Include the reviewer's name and the journal.

8.APA format is to be used when citing bibliographic sources. Your bibliography should include traditional sources (library) and may include WEB sites. WEB information is NOT to be the only source.

9.You should have samples of your author or illustrator's work for us to see. Be sure to read several of their books.

In addition, you will be evaluated on your general knowledge and familiarity with the author or illustrator, your manner of presentation, whether you clearly communicated to your audience - using Standard English, whether the report is neat, clearly organized, and free of mechanical errors. Page numbers will vary with your individual format.

You may wish to include a photograph of your author/illustrator, but it is not required. You may present your information in any manner you choose - lecture, with posters, or in any other creative manner. You are discouraged from READING your report to the class. It is expected that you are familiar enough with your author to be able to talk about her/him for three to five minutes.

Obviously you will not be able to share ALL of the information in your report, so select topics that you think will be of interest to our class.

The instructor will provide samples of studies from previous semesters that will help you in preparation - keeping in mind that there are a variety of ways to organize your report and you should choose one that is comfortable for you. You will also receive a copy of the rubric used for evaluation. Along with the above information, it should assist you with your planning.
