STORY WRITING

There is a strong connection between reading/ listening to literature and writing stories.This connection helps children understand the literary elements of:

1. Plot - conflict

2. Character

3. Setting

4. Theme

5. Writing style

6. Point of view

Literature provides the models for these literary elements and helps children increase their understanding and appreciation of them.There is also a new phenomenon in book publishing that often is used to motivate children’s writing.It is the growing number of books published that are written by children.

A rich environment is very necessary for the development of good story writing skill development.The educational environment should foster creativity and allow the students to progress through their progress at their own rates.This environment should allow for integration with oral language, listening, vocabulary development, reading,and over-all communication development.
