
Lance Hunter has exhibited his paintings in Europe and in many major cities in the United States including New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Seattle and Philadelphia. An oil painting by Hunter was featured in the January 2007 issue of International Artist Magazine as a finalist in their annual international figure competition. His oil paintings were also published in several issues of American Art Collector magazine recently. Hunter has received more than twenty-five awards in regional and national juried art exhibitions in the United States. He has exhibited previously in the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the Southern Representational Painters National Exhibitions. His paintings hang in private collections in over fifteen states and in Europe.
An accomplished watercolorist, Hunter’s work has been selected for awards in the Adirondacks, Texas, Northwest and Eastern Washington Watercolor Society's National Exhibitions. In 2010, he received signature status with the National Watercolor Society and he won two awards in Watercolor USA including a purchase award for the Springfield Art Museum. Hunter’s work was also selected for the 135th Annual International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society in New York. A watercolor of his daughter is featured on the title pages of the book Splash 8: Watercolor Discoveries, a popular anthology of contemporary watercolors published by Northlight Books.
In addition to his studio work, Hunter has completed more than twenty large scale murals in California, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma and Kentucky. His mural work has been featured in numerous newspapers, magazines and television interviews. A compilation of Hunter’s murals are featured in Mural Art 2: Murals on Huge Public Surfaces Around the World, a hardback book on international murals published in Greek and English in 2009.
Lance Hunter is an Associate Professor of Art teaching painting, watercolor, 2D design and figure drawing. He lives with his wife, artist Sylvia Nitti and their two children.
