We will have
to have two ballot boxes. We may look at electronic voting in the
future. Committee appointments will be made at the next meeting.
4. Concern expressed about mechanism for
scheduling classes - Attachment
Additional classes would be taught as overload. There is concern
over qualifications for people who may teach additional classes.
It was stated that even with current offerings, eighty classes close in
the summer with too few students.
5. Announcements from President's
Council and University Assembly
There
will be a 1 1/2% cut for next year. The University Assembly
report is linked on the Faculty Council web site.
6. Gift for Dr. Betz's Inauguration -
Clifford

been a proposal for a leadership library in the library. Council

for April 23 - Clifford
The
ceremony will take place at 4 pm. VP Bigbee will provide
refreshments.
8. Student Evaluations of Tenured Faculty
versus non-Tenured Faculty
There is concern that
tenured faculty have been evaluated for the same amount of
classes. Non-tenured are supposed to be evaluated for two courses
per semester or every course every semester. This apparently
differs by college. Some reviews are different for the first two
years.
9. Coorelation Between Evaluations
and Student Grades
Savage
compiled an annotated bibliography of articles that discuss this
topic. Some studies did find a relationship between grades and
evaluations given to instructors.
