A. Committees and Standing Reports
1. Minutes of October 4, 2002 meeting
The minutes of the October 4, 2002 meeting were approved without amendment. Motion:

2. Treasurer's Report
Secretary-Treasurer Julie Sawyer reported that wages in the amount of $159.65 were paid
during the month of September, as was the $78.40 for printing for Freshman Convocation.
With $45.00 being encumbered for the engraving of the Circle of Excellence bricks, the
balance as of October 9, 2002 was $4,090.95.
3. Welfare Committee Report
Vice President Alicia Casas-Celaya was not in attendance due to a recently broken leg.
B. Old Business
1. Faculty Teaching Evaluation Instrument
Committee Chair Julie Sawyer presented a draft copy of the revised evaluation instrument.
Paris will now present the revised instrument to Dr. Pate and Dr. Bahr for consideration.
2. Privacy Task Force
John Yeutter, chair of the Privacy Task Force, stated that the group has never convened.
After limited discussion as to whether there was a need for the task force, it was
determined that a meeting will be scheduled.
3. OTRS Executive Secretary
Paris reminded the Council that Tom Beavers, Executive Secretary of OTRS, will be at
NSU on Tuesday, November 14, 2002. Meetings have been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and
for 2:30 p.m. Paris said the 9:30 meeting has been moved to PA 220 so that ITV can be
utilized to make the presentation available to the Broken Arrow and Muskogee campuses.
C. New Business
1. NSU Undergraduate Research Day
Ben Kracht and Julie Sawyer, members of the Steering Committee for NSU
Undergraduate Research Day, presented information about the event to the Council.
Sawyer stated that the announcement of the inaugural "NSU Undergraduate Research
Day: A Celebration of Scholarly and Creative Activity" scheduled for April 24, 2003, and
the application form had been presented to the Deans' Council and Student Government
Association. This information will be distributed to all faculty in the near future. Sawyer
and Kracht requested the participation of Council members in encouraging students to
participate. After many suggestions on fund raising for NSU Undergraduate Research
Day, Kenny Paris asked the Council if they wanted to consider making a monetary
donation to this spring's event. The matter was tabled until the December meeting.
D. Other Business
1. Paris reminded delegates of the Redman Rally scheduled for November 9 from 10:00
a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
2. Paris stated that he had received inquiries from faculty concerned about the possibility
of furloughs at NSU. Paris said that Vice President Pate indicated that furloughs have not
been discussed by administration and that Pate does not anticipate furloughs being an
option for dealing with budget concerns.
3. Grant Alexander announced that SIFE will host the annual Rumble by the River on
November 14, 15 and 16. Approximately 100 students from 10 universities will
participate.
E. Adjournment
The next meeting of the Faculty Council will be held on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. in
the NET Tower Room.
