FACULTY COUNCIL AGENDA FOR FRIDAY, February 5th 2010

 

The mission of the Northeastern State University Faculty Council is to promote communication and cooperation among the faculty and between the faculty and the administration.

 

 

Enrollment in online classes – Update from Jym Brittain(?)

·         Circle of Excellence Bricks Location – in progress

·         Using Financial Aid to purchase “E” books.

·         Academic Prioritization Process

 

·         NEW BUSINESS:

·         Tenure-Teaching/Research Tracks – when is selection required – if select research after employment does track time begin then to allow for time to publish?

·         Advocate from HR (?) for Faculty/Staff – e.g. on the job injuries…guidance, etc.

·         Process and Procedures and Delays in Reimbursement for travel expenses (4 months without ANY communication…)

·         Student Evaluations of Faculty and “Don’t Know” – can this be eliminated?

·         Finals Schedules/  consistency for all campuses – BA Final scheduling of finals has been inconsistent.

·         16 weeks in a semester – what about night classes being “shorted” on week.

·         Student Advising – Transfer Students – who is advising them and regarding what issues?  Faculty not trained in all issues related to transfer student issues

·         Decrease in English proficiency in foreign students – how this affects DWFs and more importantly WHAT RESOURCES are available to assist students.

·         Faculty input on retention decisions related to non-tenure track but long term instructors.
