The foreign language section
of the department offers courses in French, German, Spanish,
Cherokee, Greek, Latin and Russian taught by a dedicated
faculty. Students can get a B.A. with a major in Spanish
or Spanish Education.
The first elementary course is taught as if each student
has had no previous study in that language. The teachers
understand the anxiety many students have in a foreign
language class and do their best to create an atmosphere
that is enjoyable and not intimidating. In addition, the
professors are ready and willing to help any student who
is having difficulty in the course. All full-time teachers
keep 8 regular office hours and will also see students
by appointment, or if they just drop in and the teacher
is free. Office hours are posted outside the office of
the teacher.
