Advisor/Advisee Information

Student will see First Year Experience, Jeff Walker, first.

Paula receives a form from Jeff declaring a major for the student. She then assigns an advisor.

If students are transferring credits from other colleges or universities it is their responsibility to make sure the schools send transcripts to NSU.  This also applies for AA and AS degrees from other schools.  However, A.A. and A.S. degrees from out of state schools are not accepted by NSU.

Paula lets the advisor know they have a new advisee. It is the students’ responsibility to contact the advisor. (However, I do not know how students know who their advisors are. I guess they will know only if they look in OSAGE.)

After two or three semesters the student should see Paula, (SH 362) to request a degree plan.  There is not much need for the student to have a degree plan done until they have several hours under their belt.  A degree plan is done only one time, unless the student changes majors. Advisors will get a copy of the degree plan.

When students have 85 hours they need to see Paula to request a final degree check. This, along with a copy of their degree plan, is sent to Brenda Bunch or Paula Page in Admissions and Records.
