Course Number: ____________________                                             Course Title: _______________________________

Course Developer: _____________________________________________________________

North Central Association requires higher scrutiny of electronically delivered courses. We must demonstrate “quality” of instruction to be the same as face to face classes.  Below is the rubric (criterion-referenced assessment tool) for demonstrating this quality to be used for compensation of course development of videoconference courses. Please provide the Distance Learning Committee printed evidence of how you completed each component.

Please organize the documented evidence according to the four categories below and submit to the Distance Learning Committee. The first submission of the videoconference course development compensation is $1,000. Course improvements may be submitted three times following the initial compensation for $250 each.  As in the initial submission of documents, please submit evidence of course improvements for compensation of $250.

Component D: Videoconference Course Planning for Remote Site Students

·          Syllabus course description, objectives, schedule (if different from on-site syllabus), e.g., testing dates for proctoring, instructor visit dates for adjusting equipment, student presentations for equipment training.  This information gives remote site facilitators and remote site students forewarning for preparation

·          Student participation, i.e., how will you determine attendance if students are out of camera range, or if they leave after class starts?

·          Student presentations, i.e., will students need to receive equipment training by facilitator for group presentations from remote site?

·          Activities/projects, i.e., will students need access to computer lab, library, bookstore, or other academic service?

·          Plan B, i.e., what to do if the remote site is disconnected from the sending site.  (Please see Request to Videotape Class Form for an example of Plan B).

·           Plan C, i.e., what to do if all classes are not meeting due to weather or technical problems.  Consider posting announcements on web site or Blackboard.

·          Any technology requirements, i.e., software/ hardware that is content specific and not on remote site computer (for reverse teaching or student presentations).

·          Remote site access.  There is no standard academic calendar for universities in Oklahoma.  If we have different dates for breaks/holidays, the remote site must provide access to facilities that NSU students need.  Please specify any special activity dates.

·          ADA requirements. Specify methods, if different from on-site students, i.e., Blackboard is Section 508 compliant.  Section 508 is federal legislation of electronic accessibility for the disabled.

·          Weather/disaster information. Specify alternative method of communication if remote site is out of range of radio/tv announcements.

·          Course evaluation information. Remote site students use a different instrument for course evaluation.  The sending location is considered F2F, therefore, students use standard course evaluation instrument.

·          Instructor contact information. Alternative methods, i.e., e-mail, telephone, fax.

·          alternative delivery plan for material and delivery of instruction. Turn-around time.
