This past season was Bill's first real hunting season. Bill was a summer puppy and was too small to hunt during his first fall. He went along with his master and swam out in the water while master set the decoys and then spent most of the hunt sleeping under his master's parka.
After a long, hard year of training, Bill was ready for his first real hunting season. He did very well for a young dog. Some high points of his season include, retrieving his first goose on September 1st and rousting out someone else's crippled mallard from the thick cattails of a small pond in October. Bill was back in the goose retrieving business in November when master downed some nice snow and blue geese. In December, it was the finale of pheasants and other upland dwellers. During this time, Bill rounded up three pheasants that would otherwise have been lost.
After more winter training, Bill is looking forward to the upcoming spring snow goose hunting season. To find out about Bill's spring snow goose season or to hear about his other exploits, drop me a line at sleepyweaseloh1@yahoo.com.
