Final Exam Topics
The final exam will be open note (not open book). The exam will cover the following topics, and will be based on readings from the two textbooks and class presentations/discussions:
1. Identification of extra-canonical texts/scriptures.
2. Major proto-orthodox Christian writers and their fundamental arguments.
3. Names and basic tenets of the major early Christian heresies and their leaders.
4. Basic development of the New Testament.
5. Discovery and significance of the major extra-canonical texts.
6. Gnostic view of Jesus as savior, divine, and human.
7. How Christian orthodoxy and the New Testament canon became dominant.
