Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome (AKA: immunodeficiency with thrombocytopenia
and eczema)
- X-linked recessive
- vulnerable to recurrent infections
- Always a progressive T-cell deficit
- Sometimes also a B-cell deficit
- Spleen shows near-complete absence
of white pulp
- Poor antibody response to polysaccharide
antigens
- IgM levels in the serum are low
- IgA and IgE are elevated
- Patients are prone to develop malignant
melanoma
