Your student identifier is your NSU ID in ALL CAPS. This also applies to faculty. Use your NSU email address as the email address. If I find email addresses other than the NSU address, the account will be disabled and you will NOT be allowed back on the system. We have set up the system to be as simple and user friendly as possible, and using the NSU email is the best way to ensure compliance with the Microsoft license.

If the system accepts your registration, you will receive the following message by email:

Hello,
Welcome!  You have been registered in your university/college ELMS for MSDNAA online software system.  Here, you can download, purchase, and/or check-out software from a wide range of Microsoft developer tools, servers, and platforms.  There is no charge to download and/or check-out the software as long as you are an eligible user in the System.

You can now go to the homepage again at

http://msdn08.e-academy.com/elms/Storefront/Storefront.aspx?campus=nsuok_inftec

Click on the login button on the left

Enter your NSU email address as your username, and the password that you provided during registration.

You can now select the most popular choices on the first page, or you can search by product title. (One of the titles that you can download is the Business edition of Microsoft Vista, and we plan to expand the selection with software choices with products such as Visual Studio. Unfortunately, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel are not included in the software that MS allows us to make available to faculty and students. That would probably cut into sales of the Office suite too much....)

Let us assume that you need Access 2003 to work on database exercises for IS1003 or IS3063. Click on the Access 2003 icon.

Notice the price (FREE!) and click on “add to cart”

Read the conditions and click on the “I agree” button at the bottom of the page.

Click on the “Check out” button

Enter your last name, first name, and leave your NSU email unchanged. You may want to de-select the MSDN student flash check box. Click on the “next” button

Click on the link for the software title (in this case Access 2003).

Make a note of your license number. WRITE IT DOWN AND KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE. Click on the download button. This will let you save and run a software downloader.

Click on Run

Click on “Continue”

Downloading will take some time depending on the speed of your connection.

Integrity of the file download will be checked

Click on “launch install”

In the folder that opens, find the installation executable. This is generally a file with the name “setup.exe” or “install.exe”.

The installation will start, and this is where you are going to need the license key that you wrote down earlier.
