What is a Survey?

A survey is a method of collecting information from people about their characteristics, behaviors, attitudes, or perceptions.  Surveys most often take the form of questionnaires or structured interviews.  There is almost no limit to the types of information that can be collected through surveys.  To decide what topics to include in an assessment survey, you need to refer to your goals and objectives for learning and to the subject matter you have agreed upon as relevant for assessment.  –Assessment Essentials
