Northeastern State University - Accounting Society

CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE 1: NAME

  SECTION 1.

The name of this organization shall be the Northeastern State University Accounting Society. Herein and after referred to as the "Society."

ARTICLE II: OBJECTIVES

  SECTION 1.

To provide through its organization a means to encourage participation in the activities of the Accounting Society.

  SECTION 2.

To promote the interests and views of members of the Accounting Society.

  SECTION 3.

To provide the student body a program of advancement of the accounting profession.

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

  SECTION 1.

Any duly registered student interested in accounting is eligible for membership.

  SECTION 2.

Any member may be suspended for or expelled from membership in the club by 2/3 vote of the members present at a meeting, after an opportunity is given for a hearing before said members, for conduct or declarations contrary to the constitution of this society. An appeal by said member may be presented at the next regular meeting of the club, and said appeal must be ratified by 2/3 of the members present in order to overrule the previous meeting.

  SECTION 3.

A member to be eligible to participate in voting at a meeting must be a paid member for the current year and attended one of the last two regularly scheduled meetings, except for newly enrolled students.

  SECTION 4.

There shall be no differences in the treatment of persons because of race, creed, color, national origin, or sex,, and that equal opportunity and access to the organization's facilities shall be available to all. This organization does not conduct or tolerate hazing activities. Hazing activities are defined as, "Any action taken or situation created, intentionally, whether on or off university premises to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment or ridicule."

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

  SECTION 1.

The officers of this club shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Student Senate Representative and such other officers as may be prescribed in the By-Laws.

  SECTION 2.

The duties of the officers shall be as prescribed in the By-Laws.

  SECTION 3.

Permanent officers elected at the organizational meeting in September and shall take office at once and shall serve for two semesters.

  SECTION 4.

Officers shall be elected in the manner prescribed in the By-Laws.

  SECTION 5.

A vacancy occurring in any elective office between annual meetings shall be filled by nomination from the floor and majority of those present at the meeting.

ARTICLE V: MEETINGS

 

  SECTION 1.

Meetings of the Society shall be held at least once a month during the school year.

  SECTION 1.

Special meetings shall be at the call of the President or majority of paid members.

ARTICLE VI: AMENDMENTS

  SECTION 1.

This Constitution may be amended by a 2/3 vote of members present at a regularly scheduled meeting.

  SECTION 2.

Said amendments must be presented in writing at one meeting and voted upon at the next meeting--the substance of the proposed amendments must be included in the notice of said meetings.
