BY-LAWS |
|
|
ARTICLE I:
MEMBERSHIP |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
Membership
shall be classified as active. |
|
SECTION
2. |
Active
members shall be defined as those not in default of their dues. |
|
ARTICLE
II: DUES |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
Membership
dues shall be no more than $10.00 and no less than $8.00; to be decided by
the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer at the beginning of
each semester. |
|
ARTICLE
III: POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
The
President shall preside at all meetings of the society. He shall have general
supervision over the development of the progress of the society. He shall
have power to appoint the Chairmen and members of all standing and special
committees with the approval of the membership. |
|
SECTION
2. |
The
Vice-President shall perform the duties of the President in his absence and
other duties as may be prescribed by the membership. |
|
SECTION
3. |
The
Secretary shall carry on all correspondence for the society, and shall be
responsible for notification of meetings in accordance with the By-Laws. The
secretary shall keep a record of all club meetings and maintain a written
record open to all members. |
|
SECTION
4. |
The
Treasurer shall pay all bills when payment has been duly authorized by the
President, shall collect all dues, and receive all contributions. The
Treasurer shall keep an account of the financial status of the Club and
report same in full at the Annual Meeting or at the request of the President.
The Treasurer shall keep the official role of Membership of the Society and
access to this roll shall be granted to all members in good standing. The
Treasurer shall make an annual financial statement to the administration of
this school as required. |

SECTION
5. |
The
Student Senate Representative shall represent the Society at all meetings of
the Student Senate and shall make regular reports to the Society. |
|
SECTION
7. |
If any
officer is absent from three (3) consecutive meetings, he shall be subject to
removal by 2/3 vote of members of next meeting. |
|
ARTICLE
IV: COMMITTEES |
|

SECTION
1 |
The
Standing Committees shall be: |

2. |
The
Chairmen of said committees shall be responsible for a report to the
President and/or society at the call of the membership of the Society. |
|
SECTION
3. |
Special
Committees may be instituted by the Chairman subject to approval of the
memberships as the need arises. |
|
ARTICLE V:
ELECTIONS |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
At the
Annual Meeting nominations may be made from the floor, provided the consent of
the nominee has been obtained. All nominees must be active. |
|
SECTION
2. |
A majority
of all votes cast shall be necessary for election. |
|
ARTICLE
VI: PARLIAMENTARY AUTHORITY |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
Robert's
Rules of Order, Revised shall govern all proceedings except when inconsistent
with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Society. |
|
ARTICLE
VII: QUORUM |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
One-sixth
(1/6) of the active members of this Society shall constitute a quorum for the
transaction of business. |
|
ARTICLE
VIII: AMENDMENTS |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
The
By-Laws may be amended by 2/3 vote of the active members present at a
regularly scheduled meeting, provided that said amendments are presented in
writing at one meeting and voted upon at the next meeting. |
|
ARTICLE
IX: MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS |
|
|
SECTION
1. |
The
Society shall have the authority to accept donations for the purpose of
carrying out the program to the Society. |
|
SECTION
2. |
All expenses
incurred by the Society shall be authorized by 2/3 majority of those present
at a meeting and referred to the Treasurer for payment. Receipt must be
presented for payment. |
|
SECTION
3. |
The President
shall be responsible for the transactions of any business for the Society
between regular meetings and shall serve as the policy-making body of the
Society. |
|
SECTION
4. |
This
Constitution shall be effective immediately on adoption. |
