Academic Affairs Mission

The mission of the Academic Affairs unit of the university is to create and maintain a supportive environment that promotes the university’s academic endeavors in undergraduate, graduate, and professional education. The unit supports and encourages excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service. The Academic Affairs unit is committed to providing the highest quality undergraduate and graduate education in the state and region, and achieving national and international prominence in the professional Optometry program.

The academic organization of the university features three components that interact to achieve the above objectives: academic degree programs (undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs), academic support services, and outreach. The academic degree programs are contained within four undergraduate colleges, a graduate college, and the professional College of Optometry. Academic support services include Center for Teaching and Learning, Enrollment Management, First Year Experience & Enrollment Services, Library Services and Research and Sponsored Programs. Outreach activities include NSU-Muskogee, NSU-Broken Arrow, Weekend College, Continuing Studies, Center for Study of Literacy, and Center for Tribal Studies.
