Spatial Analysis of U. S. Agricultural Distributions
STUDENT-CONDUCTED SPATIAL ANALYSIS
After having read the proceeding sections of this module, students are
encouraged to do a little spatial analyis of their own by considering the
following agricultural distributions in the context of some of the major
agricultural location factors in the United States. Carefully describe
the distributions that you observe, noting where there are large amounts
of these agricultural products are where there is none. Then evaluate
each to determine if it is spatially associated with the various location
factors. Have fun being geographers!
A host of additional maps are available in the 1997 Agricultural Atlas
of the United States for more analysis practice. These can be viewed
on the worldwide web at <http://www.nass.usda.gov/census/census97/atlas97/index.htm>.
