Curriculum

Being ahead of his time, Einstein buried a “treasure chest” of information and riches in several locations throughout the United States, with the hopes that someone would be able to decipher his “clues.”  Armed with a compass, modern day GPS equipment and their analytical deductive reasoning skills, academicians will navigate a specifically designed “Challenge Course” in an attempt to solve the mystery and locate the hidden treasure.  In doing so, they will naturally polish their mathematics and science skills, as well as their leadership, team building and deductive reasoning skills.

Challenges

We will explore many relationships among mathematics, criminal justice, and the sciences utilizing elements of the Tulsa Public Schools Challenge Course.

Academy Instructors

The Summer Academy will be conducted by Dr. Michael R. Wilds (a NSU Associate Professor and Attorney at Law), Carrie Taylor (Challenge Course Manager), Jerald Rasmussen (Course Assistant Manager) and Cindy Harless (Course Operations Specialist).

Students Who May Apply

The Summer Academy is limited to twenty-five students entering 9th, 10th or 11th grade who enjoy a multidisciplinary approach to learning mathematics and the sciences.  All applicants must be residents of Oklahoma, complete an application and submit the required materials. We encourage you to apply and meet the challenges of today’s world in math and science by navigating fantastic challenge course faciities while learning modern day navigation tools such as GPS instruments.
