Web Design Do's and Dont's
DO
  • Put an email link on the page
  • Include update date and update frequently
  • Include contact names and addresses
  • Use alternative text along with graphics for non-graphics users
  • Add alternative text links for image maps
  • Maintain an overall style and cohesiveness
  • Include varieties of navigation paths
  • Use distinctive titles for pages
  • Plan for growth
  • Use short file names
  • Use a spell checker
  • Avoid frames and unnecessary plugins
  • Provide worthwhile content
  • Think through the experience from different points of view
  • Test with different computers and speeds

DON'T
  • Make pages too long
  • Overuse large graphics
  • Overdo colors
  • Use phrases like Return, Back, Click Here
  • Steal copyrighted material
  • Just convert print material
  • Use jargon
  • Embed all links in paragraphs
  • Use a construction sign instead of content
  • Put important information at the bottom of the page
