Dr. Penny Sommers is a Professor and Family and
Consumer Sciences Department Chair at Northeastern State University,
Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She has been at NSU for 16 years.
Dr. Sommers has a doctoral degree in Vocational
Education and course work in consumer economics and management. She has
also completed extensive study, through courses and workshops, in family
relations and child development. She is a certified Family Life Educator
by the National Council of Family Relations and a Certified Trainer for
the 7 habits of Highly Effective Families and Marriages by the Covey
Institute.
Dr. Sommers holds membership in the American
Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Administrators of Family
and Consumer Sciences, Association of Career and Technical Education,
National Council of Family Relations and Phi Upsilon Omicron a National
Honor Society in Family and Consumer Sciences.
Dr. Sommers has one son, Madison who is married to
Pam. They live in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Sommers has two dachshunds, Schultz and Gerta.
