How soon will I get my material?
It's a good idea to plan ahead and do your research early. It is also imperative that you fully and properly fill out your request forms to ensure there are no delays. Document delivery requests are processed immediately and usually arrive in the Broken Arrow Library within 4 working days via the campus mail. InterLibrary Loan requests are usually processed and completed within 7-21 days although some can take longer. Either way, the library staff will contact you via phone or email when you materials have arrived.
Inaccurate information, especially inaccurate citation information, may slow your request. Be sure to fill out all information requested on the form and that title, issue and page information is accurate. Including periodical ISSN numbers is helpful. ILL electronic forms that are insufficiently filled out will not process. And be sure to put a date on your form that reflects the time past which you no longer need the information you are requesting.
How long will I be able to keep the material?
Interlibrary Loan is an agreement between libraries which may be rescinded at any time. The lending library may set limitations or restrictions on loans. The loan period is determined by the lending library. Renewals are also at the discretion of the lending library. Note that most lending institutions do not permit renewal of Interlibrary Loan items.
For Document Delivery, books
are allowed to circulate according to the usual check out time allowed by NSU's
library.
Most items can be renewed if needed longer. To renew materials by phone
call 449-6453.
Some materials are generally NOT available through Interlibrary Loan: rare, fragile, or unique materials; audiovisual materials; most dissertations; entire volumes of periodicals; and items located in Reference or Special Collections. Copyright guidelines require "fair use" limits on interlibrary loan borrowing. NSU-BA is permitted to request up to five articles from any one journal during a calendar year under "fair use" guidelines. After five requests have been processed, the library must begin paying copyright fees on each article; fees set by the copyright holder. Your request may be turned down if the copyright fee is excessive, or if copy permission cannot be obtained from the copyright holder. Sometimes a library cannot be found that will loan the material, especially if the material is newly published.
What will happen if I lose an ILL item (or the "grim reaper" cometh)?

Seriously, as a borrower, you are responsible for all library materials you borrow, and will be responsible for all costs (including replacement, processing, and billing fees) that the other library charges. So be a careful, responsible borrower! Return
