Locating Or Downloading An FTP Application (WS FTP)

I. An FTP (File Transfer Protocol) application is used for transferring a web site to a web server from the computer used to produce it. Typically, the FTP application will show the folders and files on the web server on one side of the screen and the folders and files on the computer used to design the web side on the other side.  The user uses simple commands, or clicks and drags, to move files from one system to the other.

II. The FTP application used by Northeastern State University, which is a free download, is called WS_FTP LE. WS_FTP LE will be used as the example.

III. If you are using a computer on an NSU campus, WS_FTP LE should be installed. Click on Start, Programs, and left click on WS_FTP95 LE.

IV. If WS_FTP LE is not on your computer, go to WS_FTP and follow the installation procedure.

V. Please note that your FTP userid and password are the same as your NT userid and password.
