A. Reading of Minutes for October 8 Meeting
The minutes were amended to reflect the accurate proceedings and accepted by the group.
B. Treasurer's Report
C. Faculty Welfare Committee Report
Kenny Paris reported the committee would be meeting on 11/09/99, and that the focus for the current year would be on communication.
III. Old Business
A. Student Worker for Faculty Council
Chris Owen introduced Beth Houser, the new student worker.
B. Summer Term Task Force
Dr. Myron Cherry, Task Force Chair, explained the charge by President Williams to the Task Force, discussed the efforts of the Task Force, and summarized the multiple recommendations made by the Task Force. He noted that a recommendation concerning summer pay was specifically requested, but that this was only one of many that the Task Force made. He reported that he communicated these recommendations to President Williams and Vice President Pate in early May. Neither made any commitments at that time. Other than the October 29,1999 Memorandum to Faculty, he has received no communication from either about this issue since then.
C. Parking
Pat Johnston, Manager of Parking & Transportation discussed parking issues. He reported that the ratio of Faculty-Staff decals to parking spaces should be sufficient to meet parking needs. He reported that noncompliance by students was a major cause of the parking problem.
D. Salary Schedule
The special committee presented questionnaire to survey faculty opinions on salary matters. The Council unanimously approved (Moved: George Fulk, Seconded: George Durler) a motion to accept the questionnaire ant to have Faculty Council members distribute the document to colleagues within their respective colleges, to tabulate and forward the results to the salary schedule task force and Vice President Pate, as well as publish these results in the faculty council minutes and on the web page..
E. ADA Accommodation in Faculty Handbook, Timing of Handbook Distribution, and Timing of University Committee appointments
Chris Owen reported that President Williams and Vice President Pate were amenable to making changes to implement all three issues raised.
F. Report on Academic Freedom Workshop
Chris Owen gave a brief report on the Academic Freedom Workshop. He suggested that a

A. Possible Invitation to Vice-President Howard to Discuss Budgeting Process
It was suggested that the council invite Vice-President Howard to a future Council meeting to discuss the University budgeting process.
B. Web Page Changes & Updates
Chris Owen reported that a new Council Forum feature had been added to the web page

The next meeting will be Friday, December 3, at 2:45.
