Distance Learning Information Center

The mission of the Northeastern State University Center for Teaching and Learning is to foster a culture of excellence in teaching and learning by assisting faculty with their scholarship of teaching, by acting as a resource center for new teaching techniques and programs, and by supporting the University in becoming a community of lifelong learners.

Who It Serves

Interactive distance learning offers quality access to courses by students who are unable to take classes in traditional ways. These students may be adult learners in rural districts, K-12 students, disabled students, homebound students, homeschooled students, and adults who have changing work patterns, social patterns, educations patterns, or are simply lifelong leaners. It also allows on-site students to learn in a timely and effective manner.

What NSU Offers

NSU's priorites for distance learning are to develop full course sequences and/or degree programs via distance learning. Courses and majors currently offered either through audio, online, or videoconference formats in the Colleges of Business and Technology; Education; Liberal Arts; and Science and Health Professions.

Distance learning options include both online and videoconferencing capabilities. All three NSU campuses have videoconferencing classrooms. Those located in Tahlequah are in Seminary Hall 204, Business and Technology 220, NET 614, and Education 107. There are three videoconferencing classrooms on the Muskogee campus in Rooms 209, Synar 202, and Synar 141. At the Broken Arrow campus, the four videoconferencing classrooms are located in C121, B225, B226 and G114.

We are members of the OneNet network, Oklahoma's statewide network system, the Online College of Oklahoma, and the Southern Regional Education Board’s Electronic Campus. The Online College of Oklahoma is an electronic marketplace for distance courses offered by Oklahoma higher education institutions.
