Installation of Crossloop

  1. Go to http://crossloop.com
  2. Click on “Free Download”

  1. Click “Run”
  2. Note: you have to be logged in as an Administrator. You can not do this on the lab machines.

  1. Click “Run”

  1. Click “OK”

  1. Click “Next”

  1. Select “I accept the agreement” and click “Next”

  1. If you plan to use it, you may want to create both shortcuts so you can find the program easily
  2. Click “Next”

  1. Click “Install”

  1. Installation is finished
  2. If you want to use it right away, click “Finish”
  3. If you want to use it later, deselect “Launch Crossloop” and click “Finish”

Using Crossloop

  1. Start Crossloop on your computer by:
    1. Clicking the desktop shortcut (if you installed it) OR
    2. Clicking on the quicklaunch shortcut (if you installed it) OR
    3. By using Start – Programs – CrossloopCrossloop
  2. The program shows you your login name and the computer you are on
    1. In this case, you would be “Ernst”
  3. Click on “Connect”

 

  1. You want to invite someone else, so you are the host. Click on the “host” tab
  2. The program shows you an access code
  3. As soon as you click “Connect”, the access code starts to work but only for two minutes. So wait until you have established contact with Dr. Bekkering
  4. Contact Dr. Bekkering during his office hours and tell him the access code. Office hours are MWF 12-1, T Th 3:15-4:45, and W 7-9PM. The phone number to use is (918) 919-4560, email is bekkerin@nsuok.edu, IM address is ernst.bekkering on Yahoo or ernstbekkering@hotmail on MSN

 

 

  1. Dr. Bekkering is on the distant computer.
  2. Let us assume he is “Bekkerin
  3. Dr. Bekkering starts Crossloop and stays on the “Join” tab
  4. Tell him the computer access code over the phone, in this case 946170357425 from the previous box.

 

  1. After Dr. Bekkering types in the code, you both click the “Connect” button

 

  1. After a few seconds, you get a message that “Bekkerin” wants to connect and share control of your computer
  2. Click “yes”

  1. After you give permission to take control, you will see a message that you are in a joint session
  2. You can minimize the window if you want since it covers a large part of the screen
  3. Dr. Bekkering will demonstrate how an instructor can help a student on his or her own computer by opening up a file and typing some text.
  4. When you are done, click on the “Disconnect” button
  5. If you want to, you can use the same number to set up a session with another helper. However, if you completely stop the program and you use it later, you will get a completely different number
