Select a scenario and prepare a 15- to 20-minute keynote
address:
- Oklahoma
Speech Theatre Communication Association has asked you to speak at their
annual meeting during the Saturday business meeting. The theme for the conference is
“Communication: At the Heart of
Everything.” About 200 have RSVP’d
for this event. The majority of
the audience members are communication professors and scholars. You will speak while they are eating
lunch.
- Your
hometown has called you and is looking for a commencement speaker for high
school graduation. (If you choose
this option, please turn in a one-page audience analysis before giving
your speech).
- The
American Association of University Women is holding a conference in
Tahlequah and they would like for you to give the keynote address. The audience members have been in
workshops all morning, had lunch, and you are the last speaker of the
day. There is no theme but they
would like for you to focus on women’s issues. The audience is mostly professional women from the local
community.
- A
principal in Buffalo, Okla., calls you and tells you they’ve been having
problems with depression at his high school. He’d like for you to come speak at an all-school assembly
during the fall. There are 43
seniors.
This assignment is worth 200 points (100 x 2) and is due
Monday, June 20. Please turn in an
outline and bibliography (with at least 5 sources) before you begin your
presentation.
